Aspergillus oryzae-based cell factory for direct kojic acid production from cellulose
BACKGROUND Kojic acid (5-Hydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-4-pyrone) is one of the major secondary metabolites in Aspergillus oryzae. It is widely used in food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. The production cost, however, is too high for its use in many applications. Thus, an efficient and cost-effective kojic acid production process would be valuable. However, little is known about the complete set o...
متن کاملCyclopiazonic Acid Biosynthesis of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus oryzae
Cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) is an indole-tetramic acid neurotoxin produced by some of the same strains of A. flavus that produce aflatoxins and by some Aspergillus oryzae strains. Despite its discovery 40 years ago, few reviews of its toxicity and biosynthesis have been reported. This review examines what is currently known about the toxicity of CPA to animals and humans, both by itself or in comb...
متن کاملExploitation of Fruit Wastes for Pectinase Production Using Aspergillus Oryzae
Ever increasing population and industrialization has resulted in heavy pollution and waste generation. The main aim of this project lies in waste management and synthesis of pectinase enzyme which plays a crucial role in sewage treatment. Twenty moulds were isolated from decaying fruits and municipal waste soil sample on SDA and were further screened for pectinolytic enzyme production. Screenin...
متن کاملCase of keratitis caused by Aspergillus tamarii.
We report a case of Aspergillus tamarii keratitis. Ocular injury was known to be a predisposing factor. Topical natamycin and econazole treatment and subsequent systemic ketoconazole treatment proved effective. The isolate was identified by morphological characteristics and sequence analysis as A. tamarii, a member of Aspergillus section Flavi not hitherto reported from keratomycosis.
متن کاملProduction of Aspergillic Acid by Surface Cultures of Aspergillus flavus.
It has been reported by White (1940), Rake, McKee, and Jones (1942), White and Hill (1943), Jones, Rake, and Hamre (1943), and Bush, Dickison, Ward, and Avery (1945) that the fungus Aspergillusflavus produces an antibiotic substance known as aspergillic acid. Aspergillusflavus is also known to produce other antibiotic substances such as flavacidin (McKee, Rake, and Houck, 1943; McKee and MacPhi...
